Black & Red Beetle ID Request - Atalantycha bilineata
My back garden, Baltimore City County, Maryland, USA
April 23, 2008

Ancistronycha
The current name for this species is Atalantycha bilineata (Say).

Thanks!
Thanks for your comment, Dr. Evans. I've posted a note in one of our forums to see if we can get this fixed. Was there a recent revision or change in taxonomy, or are we way out of date?

New Genus
Species page moved to new Genus Atalantycha per Kazantsev (The Coleopterists Bulletin, 59(2):204–210. 2005, A Review of Ancistronycha Markel with the Description of Atalantycha, PDF).

Not an ID
but looks like it could be Ancistronycha bilineata (soldier beetle)?
