Canadian Melanolophia - Hodges#6620 -
Melanolophia canadaria

Size: Maybe around 40 mm?
I believe this may either be a Melanolophia canadaria or Melanolophia signataria. Is it too worn to tell? Same as this one?

Melanolophia
I'd say
M. canadaria
for both specimens, due to the heavily mottled appearance. It's definitely tough to sort the two, but
signataria
shouldn't be this heavily mottled.
Also, an "unofficial" characteristic (I'm not aware of its described status) is that
signataria
often has a straighter PM line. However, sometimes
signataria
can have a PM line similar to
canadaria
, but
canadaria
will not have a straight PM line ... at least not in my experience.

Thanks again
I put them both in for now, as we're not being overrun by images of this species, but we can Frass at anytime.
