Green Caterpillar - Amphipyra pyramidoides

My six year old found this little guy feeding on our snowball bush. I searched your wonderful site and could not find anything that looks like it. Could you please help us identify it? We have noticed in the past day that it has become sort of slimy, we would love to see it mature, any suggestions would be great! Thank you! Tammy Williams, High Point, North Carolina.
