Convergent Lady Beetle - Hippodamia convergens

Convergent Lady Beetle - Hippodamia convergens
Kenner, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
April 6, 2008
I know it isn't a very good picture but this was my first and last time ever seeing one of these. If I happen across another, I will get better pictures but in the mean time...

Congratulations on yet another first.
Nice find, Ron.

Thanks Ron
but it seems way too easy to have first state records in Louisiana. Early on, I didn't realize that almost every picture I would take would be a state first...

This beetle is coated with metal shavings. I was at work without a camera so decided to capture this and photograph later. All I had with me to store this lady beetle in was flashlight that turns on by tightening the lens. This screwing action causes the contacts to rub against the back of the reflector and grinds it away. The lady beetle was covered with this metal residue.

I will keep my eyes open for another in order to get a better picture for BugGuide.
