Moved
Adam, the Atrecus are moved to the tribe Othiini. Thanks again for the help.

It is
These are nice shots for coloration and for another reason: the wonderful shine. While not necessary to make this species ID, other Staphylinines are harder to ID by photo and the punctation on their head, thorax or elytra can be distinctive or help eliminate similar spp. This is (sort of) the equivalent to my trick of blasting a lightsource on a dark staph to see punctation (under a scope).

Cheers,
Adam

Am I being picky?
Atrecus is actually not a Xantholinini species, it is in the tribe Othiini, different from Xantholinini because its elytra 'line-up straight along the midline' and it has a much thicker 'neck'. Is it possible that we could change this? By the way, Othiini is still in Staphylininae.

Thanks guys,
Adam
