Cheiracanthium reclassified
Not sure when it happened, but Cheiracanthium spp. were reclassified from Clubionidae to Miturgidae (Prowling spiders), as per the latest online version of AMNH's World Spider Catalog. Moved spider to new family... :)

Clubionid spider
This spider looks like one of our common night hunters, family Clubionidae. Perhaps Chiracanthium inclusum (native sp.) or C. mildei (non-native). The web is a daytime retreat.

this spider was in a day lily which closed up shortly after. I wonder if it escaped. I guess this variety has a mean bite -- thanks for the info. Next time I might not hang out with it to take pictures!
