Lispe - female

Lispe - Female
Kings Grant Nature Trail Marlton, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
May 3, 2008
My wife and I were hiking by the edge of the lake/pond near our house. We came upon a stinky marshy stagnant section of the shore-line (much nicer than it sounds) and this fly was on a half-floating log. Would anyone believe a female(?) in the genus Lispe?

Yes, I believe you are right. Distinctive are the wide palpi. Excellent ID job!

Thanks!
I think I may try to go back and see if I can get both genders (if they are visually different). We could use a few more images. A view showing the wing veins better would be nice, too.
