lake pleasant area, castle hot springs road. There were several of things things scurring around maybe 30 - 50 or so...just curious to know what it is and if it is dangerous. The yellow and black things look like hard wings of some sort.

Blister beetles
To answer your question about whether it's dangerous: if handled, blister beetles can exude a fluid (from their leg joints, I think) that causes blisters, but that's about it I think. If you don't bother them, they won't bother you.

Also: yes, the yellow and black things are the hardened forewings, which in all beetles are called elytra (one elytron, two elytra).

You can see the cross pattern on the elytra. The red pronotum shows that it's latecincta, not erosa
