Size: about one inch
This creepy thing lives in holes in the yard and doesn't like to come out. It's pinchers are STRONG. It actually will push back and play tug-of-war with twigs in it's hole.

It's a baby!
That a larval tiger beetle.
The thorny hump secures it in it's burrow while it waits for passing prey.
A little like an ant lion but not quite...
