Pygmy Grasshopper (This One's for Lynette)

Pygmy Grasshopper (This One's for Lynette)
Santiago Oaks Regional Park, Orange, Orange County, California, USA
May 4, 2008
Size: ~5mm
Previously, Lynette asked for a side view of one of these critters. I pled bad leg. Well, today I bit the bullet, sat down on some horse droppings, and mixed a couple metaphors. After about a half hour and one anxious inquiry by a park ranger ("Are you all right?"), I got these shots.

The earlier post of a different specimen and possibly species:
Because of the tiny size, I originally thought these to be nymphs. Now I'm sure they are adults after seeing one fly expertly and noticing an actual nymph alongside, as shown in the third shot. With this info - and a good start on species info from Michael Garcia on the earlier post, I hope for conclusive ID eventually.
