Striped Saddlebags in Georgia? - Tramea carolina - female

Striped Saddlebags in Georgia? - Tramea carolina - Female
Wolfskin District, Oglethorpe County, Georgia, USA
May 4, 2008
Size: 8 cm
Striped saddlebags, Tramea calverti, is what DougT at Gossamer Tapestry suggests. Unusual but not unknown to find it in Georgia. Several were hunting about a sunny clearing about 50 feet above Goulding Creek in southwest Oglethorpe County, which is in the Piedmont region of northeast Georgia.

Doug says female, so I'll check that.

Thanks
Much appreciated attention to what is still at least a first for me! I was pleased that I at least got the genus right ;-)

Carolina
T. carolina. Extensive red patch, minimal clear sole, and more black on top of S8-9 than on Red.

not striped
I don't see any stripes and there appears to be too much red in the wings. Check out Carolina (T. carolina) and Red (T. onusta). Leaning towards Red but I haven't double-checked that the marks I'm thinking of are the right ones.
