Martin- Thanks! Selected Trypoxylon lactitarse because of its white stockings on the rear legs like mine.

It looks
as if it is either a Blue Mud Dauber (Chalybion californicum)or a Cricket Hunter - either (Chlorion aerarium) or (Chlorion cyaneum). I am not enough of an expert to be sure.
