Parasitic wasp

Parasitic wasp
Rincon (45 minutes northwest of Savannah), Effingham County, Georgia, USA
May 14, 2008
Look in the bottom right hand corner of the photo and that is what emerged from those little eggs. I tried numerous times to take photos to get them clear, but these little guys move fast! This is the tiny parasitic wasp that seems to be so elusive. They lay a lot of eggs!

Braconidae.
These are most likely braconid wasps, and the "eggs" are actually the cocoons housing the pupal stage. There used to be a caterpillar where that mass of cocoons is now....:-)

Cool!
Thanks, Eric! They must be eating a LOT of caterpillars because I am finding these little cocoon masses everywhere! That's a good thing...that means they aren't eating my plants anymore. :-)
