Interesting Boxelder? - Lygaeus kalmii

Size: 0.5 inch
This looks a little different than the eastern boxelder I am used to. This species is somewhat common here.

Small Milkweed Bug
The large variety is common where I shoot (SoCal), but these guys are scarce. Info: http://bugguide.net/node/view/460

FYI, there's also a Western Boxelderbug, on the far side of the Rockies.
