Shield bug - Euschistus crenator

Shield bug - Euschistus crenator
St. Pete Beach, Pinellas County, Florida, USA
October 15, 2007
Saw this little guy on a pointsettia out on the beach... same pointsettia as the one in my mason wasp photograph... I always thought they were called stink bugs... can somebody please clarify? what species is this....

maybe E. crenator (Fabricius) -- D.B. Thomas det.
Deacon-- thanks for sharing this potentially new-to-BG bug! since we have no other pix of E. crenator at this point and yours lack conclusive details, please keep an eye out for them and try to take and post more photos, incl. ventral views. =v=
