Carpet Beetle - Dermestes maculatus
Guelph, Wellington, Ontario, Canada
Size: 6.5 mm
A friend found this single adult Dermestid (along with numerous larval exuviae) in a bag of dried scallops (an expensive Chinese soup ingredient) imported from Hong Kong. The package was received last year, so we're not sure of the beetle's origin. It was discovered in early April. Perhaps this is Dermestes maculatus?
