Blister Beetle - Epicauta fabricii

Blister Beetle - Epicauta fabricii
Henryetta, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, USA
May 28, 2005
Size: aprox. 17mm
Epicauta sp.?

Epicauta fabricii (LeC.)
John Pinto det.
Moved from Epicauta.

Interesting Epicauta
This gray Epicauta appears to be rather distinctive--antennal segments 1 and 2 (or 2 and 3?) are very elongated, giving it almost a Longhorn apperance. Compare this image from Ontario, Canada:

Compare, also, this image labeled as Epicauta fabricii linked from the family page of Insects of Cedar Creek. The image shows two individuals, (male/female?), one with the odd antennae. A sexual dimorphism?

Epicauta sp.
Wow, what a fabulous image! You should get yourself a contract to do a calendar, Charles.

Thanks Eric, but that sounds like work to me.
