big brown spider - Kukulcania
Manteca, San joaquin County, California, USA
May 26, 2008
Size: 5/8 "
I found this spider under a fence board that was lying down . It was next to a snail and hid in the webs next to it when I took a few photos . I don't know what kind of spider this is and would like to know more . Thanks , Beth

Kukulcania?
Has a Crevice Weaver look, but not like any species I've seen.

Good call!
At the very least it is a female filistatid, and a gravid (egg-laden) one at that.
