Size: Wingspan 3 to 3.5 inches
I'm totally new to the world of moths and butterflies and would appreciate an I.D. on this. My move to Grainger co. is opening my eyes to a new world for photography!

This specimen was photographed late afternoon on a south facing wall.

I have also seen a number of Luna moths in the same location over the past 6 weeks or so and was told that they are more prevelant this year than normal.

Wow!
These things are huge! We have three of them that are sitting near the back door to our house. My wife told me to "dispose" of them as she is terrified of them. But our dogs enjoy sniffing them while they are outside, so I found a happy medium and put them in a bush. Have pictures and hopefully will have them up soon.

Polyphemus moth
