Perplexed
I wonder if female Platycercus virescens are brown instead of green-black. I assume the one-and-only I've found is a male (see horizontal thumb). The head is too small for a female (or male!) Ceruchus piceus, posted here for comparison:

 
Just a variable sp.
This sp. is just quite variable in terms of color. The number of synonyms is often a good indicator of this [see info tab].
