shiny-red-elytra - Hesperus

May 28, 2005
Size: 11 - 12 mm
Raised its tail most of the time. Had no fear of larger rove beetles in my light arena.

Philonthus?
Nice animal. Reminds me of the genus Philonthus, but I am only guessing. Really need a staphylinid expert to visit here:-)

Alas
One of the best experts in Staphs in the country worked at KU and passed away just recently

Thank you Eric.
If staph expert won't come to site, I'll send pix to staph expert.
