Possible Conozoa - Arphia sulphurea - female

Possible Conozoa - Arphia sulphurea - Female
Ft. Worth Nature Center and Refuge, Tarrant County, Texas, USA
June 3, 2008
Size: 1.25 inches
I assume this is a band-winged grasshopper, possible Conozoa.
Positive species ID would be appreciated. This is a very cool bug.
From a distance, it looked like a big bird dropping.

Moved
Moved from Grasshoppers.

I like it - A. sulphurea
I've seen some other species of Arphia that come close, but never one quite this striking (A. pseudonietana can come close). It is indeed an Arphia, and looks to be a female A. sulphurea.

Thanks for the help
Thank you Dave and Eric for the help in the ID.
I did go back later and found some A. sulphurea. They were all uniform variations of brown to light tan.

Neat.
Neat specimen, but I don't think it is a Conozoa. Do wait for Dave Ferguson to reply, but I'm personally leaning toward Arphia. Never seen one with this pattern before, though.

Possible Conozoa or Arphia
Thanks all.
