Pretty fly - Strauzia intermedia - male

Pretty fly - Strauzia intermedia - Male
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
June 1, 2008
Size: approx 8mm
I posted this species - maybe even this same individual - a couple of days ago, but these are better shots. ID on the former one (which I will frass shortly) was made by comparing with other images in guide, and confirmed anonymously by someone else moving to the genus level. Looking at other Strauzia images, I think this is very probably a male, as it has the punk hairdo seen on the male in another shot (below).

Strauzia intermedia
As you suspected this is a male. The species is identified in your area by the black fifth tarsomere (last foot segment).

Thanks for the expert opinion!
I will move it to species level.
