How was this ID'd? I'd be interested in your source. I got the impression from the couple experts I've written that a photo is not very conclusive. (I am not an expert, just curious)

Common species.
Thus is a common species in my area. Few midges go by this coloration pattern. Dr. J.H. Epler identified an identical individual
