Wow, what a magnificent beast
Wow, what a magnificent beast - definitely female, but I've never seen anything like that coloring - neither the black wings, nor the gold metalflake abdomen. And I spent the greater part of 2 hours researching tipulidae today. Great image.

I had one that looks a lot like that, also from Point Pelee determined to be Lunatipula disjuncta, the same as one I already had from Chicago.
