Calligrapha scalaris group
Without knowing the host plant, one can't tell if this is C. scalaris or one of the other similar spp. of Calligrapha... However, I'm going to go ahead and move to C. scalaris.

Hostplant
I believe these beetles were found on Basswood--does that help?
Thanks,

It doesn't help as much as I initally supposed...
There are 13 spp. of Calligrapha known from ON.
(
1
)
Five spp. of Calligrapha feed on T. americana and two more spp. are reported from Tilia sp.
(
2
)
However, cross referencing the pattern, the host and the range suggests this is Calligrapha amator which happens to be the only sp. of Calligrapha known only from ON. Will move to C. amator, the Ontario Calligrapha Leaf Beetle... (Keep shoting!)

Beautiful!
Calligrapha
sp., but beyond that I don't know for sure. However, there's a similar one that they're calling Elm calligrapha on this
Oklahoma State University
site, which presumably is
Calligrapha scalaris
as on this
Insects of Quebec
site. See also
Furthermore, I see that Cranshaw
(
1
)
lists Linden Leaf Beetle as an alternate name for
C. scalaris
- Linden, as you may know, is another name for
Tilia
sp. (Basswood).
