strange cocoon - Pyrrharctia isabella

Size: approx 1" long & 3/8" dia
I found this cocoon when I removed the tarp from our a/c condensing unit. There were 2 or 3 Woodlouse Spiders on the tarp also.

Moved from Tiger Moths.

Cocoon.
This may the cocoon of one of the tiger moths, or one of the tussock moths. Both are known to weave into the cocoon the urticating hairs of the caterpillar (the brown hairs in this image). There are no doubt species in other families that do this as well.

looks more like an isabella to me
This can be moved to Pyrrharctia isabella.
