Quite the mimic.
First time I saw a photo of a fly like that - wings closed - I couldn't figure out why it was called a spider mimic. Ilona, your photo really drives the point home, particularly when viewed as a thumbnail.

Hi Ron, I didn't know that this fly was called a spider mimic but now I can see what you mean. I found this fly in my backyard rock garden which has turned into quite the jungle with all the rain we have been having lately. It's turned into a good "hunting" area.
