My Male Visitor - Latrodectus hesperus - male

My Male Visitor - Latrodectus hesperus - Male
College Station, Brazos County, Texas, USA
I found this little man in my kitchen one morning. He had made a web which I thought males typically didn't do....maybe it was his "love web". At first, I thought maybe it was one of my house spiders who decided to make their web a little higher of the ground than normal. Then, I saw red, and told my dog and cat to stay back. I ran and got one of my petri dishes can closed it around him to take some pictures with my digital microscope. I let him go after I showed him to everyone I knew. I'm almost certain he came home with me on a bag of dogfood. Living in Texas, I would think that I would have seen these spiders all the time....he's the first!
