Agree with Dogwood
This appears to be Gray Dogwood (Cornus racemosa): slender leaf with pale underside.

Moved from Helmeted Squash Bug. Many leaf-footed bug eggs look like this--it's not clear how this species ID was made, especially given the comment about the host plant.
