Upside Down Beetle - Amblonoxia
San Joaquin Wildlife Refuge, Orange County, California, USA
June 14, 2008
Size: 2-3cm
I found this beetle in the path, on its back waving its legs in the air. After snapping a few shots of its underside, I flipped it over. It played dead in the road for about a minute, then started to move. Eventually it flew to a nearby bush, where it hung off a branch.
