Gray Fishfly - Neohermes angusticollis - male

Gray Fishfly - Neohermes angusticollis - Male
Hwy 55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
May 29, 2005
Size: 34 mm
Detail showing clasper-like (?) structures at tip of abdomen, and what is possibly a drop of sperm exuded when I captured this specimen. The creature was very uninterested in revealing its abdomen--every time I tried to manipulate it into view, it thrashed, even performing mock stabs with its abdominal tip.
