Necrophila americana

Necrophila americana
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
May 27, 2005
Size: 20 - 22 mm
Even upright, beetle's furious flying is unproductive in my light arena. Notice the designs on underside of wing covers (elytra) that may serve to "hide" the beetle when it lands. Greenish metalic or pearlescent spots are similar to elytral underside color of Oice*optoma inae*quale.
