There was two in my yard flying around for an hour or so and they never landed so I was unable to get a good picture, but if you zoom in you can see what I'm talking about.

It's quite an accomplishment shooting one of these in flight. Dragonflies often have an annoying way of staying aloft when we want to photograph them. Eventually, you'll see them perching.

Not sure what you mean. The black color is on the wings if that is what you mean. This appears to be the Black Saddlebags, Tramea lacerata, in the guide here
