Wing Pattern
You know.... the dark area of the wing pattern looks like a lava flow that has cooled. Fascinating creatures!

 
I kept blinking when I initially saw the effect on the monitor.
First time I saw one on the ground, asphalt actually, it looked like a brownish black blob. Hah!
