Bee Mimic? - Laphria

Bee Mimic? - Laphria
Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri, USA
June 10, 2008
Can anyone help with the ID on this guy, I believe it to be a bee mimic, but i could not find any other pictures that look exactly like it and my field guides are not showing it.

Cropping
This image needs a lot of cropping. Not enough detail shows in the uncropped one.

Looks
Like Laphria flavicollis.

Laphria?
Check out the robber flies under Laphria.

Robber Fly
Look through the Family Asilidae. There are some people here that know these pretty well (I don't), so the odds are good for a complete ID.

Thank you, I will check there
