Gall Midge (Cecidomyiidae)

Gall Midge (Cecidomyiidae)
Medford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 18, 2008
Size: 1 to 2 mm
Seen in a weed patch at the edge of a grass field.

Gall midge.
This is a gall midge, family Cecidomyiidae. Long, bead-like antennae seem to be somewhat diagnostic when combined with really small size, gangly legs.
