No, but close....
This is an adult specimen of Sehirus cinctus. Note that the forewing membrane is visible (reflective in fact in this image), which would not be the case in an ebony bug (forewings completely hidden by enormously expanded scutellum).

 
Boy do I feel sheepish, just
Boy do I feel sheepish, just when I thought I had it right. Thank you for the correct ID. I will get the hang of this yet. What I lack in knowledge I make up for in enthusiasm. Here is a scary bit of info; I am trying to write an insect book for Missouri Insects. Been working at it for almost 3 years!
