Grasshopper - Camnula pellucida - female

Grasshopper - Camnula pellucida - Female
Redwood City, San Mateo County, California, USA
June 20, 2008
Size: ~ 4 cm
Only image of grasshopper found in vacant urban lot. There were other Pallid-Winged Grasshoppers nearby but they were mostly grayish - is this a color variant of that species, or a different species?

Moved
Moved from Grasshoppers.

Yes it is Camnula pellucida
Xanthippus, Hippiscus, and a few other genera can look similar, but generally much larger, and with brightly colored wings, more rough surface, etc.

Thanks, David and Eric!

Different genus:-)
Leaning heavily toward the "clear-winged grasshopper," Camnula pellucida, but do wait for David Ferguson to weigh in....Fantastic image!

Thanks, Eric!
Will move to grasshoppers page for now.
