under-rock alleculine - Hymenorus Windham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA June 19, 2008 Size: about 7.7 mm
I found two of these beetles, both teneral (newly eclosed from pupa), each under a different granite stone in a mixed woods. Each stone also had ants living beneath it but not in immediate proximity to these alleculines. I suppose that the larvae are soil-living.
