I think
This may be a female Laphria thoracica taking a female Laphria posticata. Cool shot. Laphria occasionally go wild and take large prey. Though it is usually the medium sized Laphria. The giants always take tiny little beetles it seems.

 
Boy, were we fooled!
In the other image, we thought they both looked like males.

 
I failed
To look at the other image. And the thoracica is a male. I cannot be sure on the victim but it still looks female.
