Velvet Water Bug - Merragata brunnea

Velvet Water Bug - Merragata brunnea
Phyllis Rawlinson Park, Richmond Hill (N43º55'25.2"W079º23'54.5"elev.209m), York Region, Ontario, Canada
June 18, 2008
Size: 1 mm
Found many of these Hebrids on the water surface, and even under a submerged piece of wood, walking around in a silvery suit of air. Antennal segment 4 without mid-length constriction, making this a Merragata. Overall coloring resembles brunnea more closely than it does hebro*ides.
