unknown heteropteran - Zelus tetracanthus

unknown heteropteran - Zelus tetracanthus
Gilbert, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
June 21, 2008
Size: ~15mm long
Found perching on a pondside bulrush. Much of the original picture is out of focus, but I'm hoping there's enough here for a provisional ID. Reduviidae, possibly Zelus sp?

I like your guess
this Arizona Zelus seems plausible (just a guess on my part, too):

Thanks!
Thank, Hannah! This picture seemed closest to me too. They don't show in my pic, but the legs on this critter were also banded the same way, and the abdomen was largely whitish too.

Yes.
This image seems to indicate tuberculate processes on the pronotum (top side of thorax), which means this is probably Zelus tetracanthus, the most widespread species in the genus in North America. Nice.

Definitely...
Z. tetracanthus.
