Black Beetle - Carabus granulatus

Size: 23 mm body length
This beetle was found on the floor of a basement apartment that was being rennovated. The outside door was left open all day, so it could have crawled in through the door.

That texture makes us think of
Carabus granulatus - Granulated Carabid in the guide here. It must at least be a reasonably close relative.
