Excellent shots
Of a highly photographed insect. I don't believe there are any other wasps that take on the Cicada cargo. Only comparable pairing is Pepsis versus Tarantula.

Cicadas are pretty big, so I am wandering what was the size of this guy?

I was shocked to see such a large wasp. I had never seen one of these before this encounter. If you look at the other photo of this specimen, that is the arm of a bench they are on... I would guess about 2-3 inches wide. Maybe that will give you some idea of the scale.
