Saddleback Caterpillar - Acharia stimulea

Saddleback Caterpillar - Acharia stimulea
Baton Rouge - BREC Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA
June 20, 2008
Size: 7/8 inch
Not really an ID Request.
I think I have that correct.

I thought it might be interesting to have another post for your files because it was found eating poison ivy leaves.
This for a caterpillar that in Wagner's - Caterpillars of Eastern North America - it says "The sting of the Saddleback Caterpillar may be the most potent of any caterpillar in North America."
It is said to be a generalist as to plants that it eats, but I have not seen poison ivy listed specifically.
The poison ivy was growing on a hackberry tree.
Watched two caterpillars for three days before they disappeared.
They were always eating poison ivy leaves.

I will post a few more views.
