Marshland Wolf Spider -- Pardosa sp.? - Pirata

Marshland Wolf Spider -- Pardosa sp.? - Pirata
Torrance, Madrona Marsh, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 3, 2005
Size: 8 mm +/-
This is an abundant resident of the marsh, and perhaps the same species found in similar open ground/scattered low vegetation areas locally. Eye pattern and body color strongly suggest Pardosa. Perhaps P. californica?

Pedipalps, though not clearly visible in this or a second photo (not posted) suggest this is an adult male.

Pirata
Jeff Hollenbeck IDs this as a member of the genus Pirata
