Robber - Asilus sericeus - female

Robber - Asilus sericeus - Female
Dunstable, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 27, 2008
Chowing down on a Cabbage White it appears.
Assume something in Asilinae but haven't gotten beyond that.

Moved
Moved from Robber Flies.

Thanks Herschel and Eric.

These
Are currently hanging out near the butterfly bushes in my front yard. Asilus sericeus, female. They favor lepidoptera.

Asilius?
Looks like a species in the genus Asilius to me, but do wait for others, especially Herschel Raney, to offer comment. Neat image!
