Deerfly maybe? - Xenox tigrinus

Deerfly maybe? - Xenox tigrinus
Cass County, Texas, USA
June 28, 2008
Size: 1/2"
My first guess is that this is a Deer Fly but it seems to be too big so I am not sure.

Lee

Moved
Moved from Xenox. In eastern Texas it should be tigrinus.

Beefly
It would be something like this

Xenox sp.
A species of Xenox. They are parasites (in the larval stage) of large carpenter bees.

unknown fly in Indiana
Ah, that makes sense, as we're inundated with carpenter bees. As I've had a HORRIBLE infestation, 'My new buddy. Good little fly!' LOL!

Thanks
