New Midway MD Bug - Arilus cristatus

New Midway MD Bug - Arilus cristatus
New Midway, Frederick County, Maryland, USA
June 21, 2008
Size: 3/4 inch
We were sitting next to a pond on a farm when we spotted this crawling around on the table. It is sitting on top of a mustard bottle. We think this is a female walking stick, young, but not sure. The time of day was around 5-6 pm. The tail on the bug was arched over like a scorpion.

Moved
Moved from True Bugs.

It's an immature Wheel Bug
see Arilus cristatus in the guide.
